RADIANT HEAT
Radiant floor heating for Yakima and Kittitas Counties
Step into a new level of warmth. Hot-water floor heat installed by a family plumbing and boiler company that has worked with hydronics since 1909.
Chapter 01
Why a floor that heats the room beats a vent that blows on it
There is comfort, and then there is radiant floor heating, where every step in your home feels like a warm embrace. That is how Central Mechanical describes it, and anyone who has crossed a tile bathroom floor on a January morning in Yakima knows what they mean.
Instead of pushing hot air around, a radiant floor warms the surface you walk and sit on, and the room warms from the ground up. Central lists five reasons homeowners choose it: uniform, consistent heat, lower utility bills, improved indoor air quality, minimal maintenance, and compatibility with various flooring options. They are set out in full beside the photo below.
Yakima and Kittitas County winters are cold and long enough that heat you feel through your socks is not a luxury. It is the kind of thing people in Moxee, Selah and Ellensburg tell their neighbors about after the first cold snap.

Red PEX radiant loops laid across a framed new-construction room before the floor goes down
How a radiant floor goes in, loop by loop
A radiant system is a plumbing job first. Tubing is laid in loops across the floor, tied or clipped in place, and run back to a manifold, the brass fitting where each loop connects to the supply. Because everything ends up under the finished floor, the loops are tested while they are still open to view and the work is checked before anything covers it.
The heat itself comes from a boiler or a water heater, sized to the loops it feeds. That is where Central's history matters. Kris Ash grew up in this industry and picked up deep insight into plumbing, hydronics and boilers, and the company has been piping hot water systems in this valley for over a century. One shop handles the tubing, the manifold and the heat source, so nobody has to guess whose job a problem is.
Their promise is to carry you from accurate estimations to flawless installations. For large projects over $2,500 the estimate is free and carries no obligation, and the finished work is backed by a one year labor and product warranty.
Chapter 03
When to plan it: before the floor, and before fall
Warm floors start before fall. Central's own advice is to install radiant floor heating now and be ready when temperatures drop.
The best moment of all is before the walls go up. In new construction, the tubing goes in while the subfloor is bare and a plumber can walk every loop. In a remodel, the right time to call is before demolition starts, so the floor, the heat and the flooring choice are decided together. If you already have a hydronic or radiant system in an older home, Central also services hydronic, radiant and steam heating, so you do not need a different company for the repair.
