Plumbing repair, fixtures and drains, done by the same family since 1909

Leaking and frozen pipes, faucets, toilets, garbage disposals, water softeners and pumps, for homes and businesses across Yakima and Kittitas Counties.

Chapter 01

The leak you can hear and the one you can't

Some leaks announce themselves. A faucet drips all night, a showerhead sprays sideways, a toilet keeps running after it should have stopped. Others sit quietly where nobody looks until the floor tells you. Mauricio Vazquez had a steady leak on his main line underneath his home, and in his Google review he says Krystal at our office "was able to get someone to come out pretty quickly to come and fix the leak," and that the technician, Darren, was friendly and knowledgeable.

Then there is the valve under the sink that will not shut off. Charlie Brooks was installing a new dishwasher when he found his shut-off valve would not close. He wrote that "in an hour they had a plumber at my house" and the valve was replaced. A small valve that will not close can flood a kitchen, which is why a failed one gets replaced instead of being leaned on one more time.

Hard water and slow drains are the quiet ones. Scale builds on faucets and showerheads, a water softener starts to struggle, a drain takes longer every month. None of it is an emergency today. All of it is cheaper to fix before it becomes one, and we service homes and businesses from Yakima and Selah to Ellensburg, Prosser and Cle Elum.

Shut it off, find it, fix it right

Every repair starts at the shut-off. We stop the water first, then find where it is really coming from, because the wet spot on the ceiling is rarely the leak. Once we know, the repair gets made in copper or PEX, and a worn-out valve gets replaced rather than patched.

Our fixture work covers faucets, toilets, sinks, garbage disposals and more. Macayla Carter called us for a leaking toilet and shower, and wrote that Tony arrived on time, "cleaned up after himself" and that Central "took the time to work with me on prices." We also service water softeners, and we work on pumps: booster, re-circulating and sump. Hose bibs and yard hydrants are on the list too, since those are the ones that freeze first in a Kittitas County winter.

Bigger jobs are the same job with more pipe. Michelle had a partial re-pipe done, and her review says Steve "was able to complete my partial re-pipe in one day" and that her water pressure is a drastic improvement. All our technicians are certified and train continuously, and we hold Washington plumbing contractor licence CENTRMS791MO.

Plumbing do’s and don’ts

  • Garbage disposals

Do: Always run water before, during, and after using the garbage disposal.

Don’t: Never put coffee grounds, eggshells, or fibrous vegetables like celery into your garbage disposal. These items can clog the system and cause malfunctions.

  • Drains

Do: Utilize a drain guard to catch debris and hair. This simple preventive measure can save you from potential clogs down the line.

Don’t: Avoid pouring grease or oil down the drain. These substances solidify as they cool, leading to stubborn blockages.

  • Toilets

Do: Limit flushing to toilet paper and human waste only. Toilet paper is designed to dissolve easily, reducing the chance of clogs.

Don’t: Never flush paper towels, wipes, or feminine products. These items don’t dissolve and can cause severe blockages.

  • Sump pumps

Do: Regularly test your sump pump by pouring a bucket of water into the pit. The pump should start automatically and quickly drain the water.

Don’t: Don’t ignore any strange noises or vibrations. These are often warning signs that something might be off, requiring immediate attention.

  • Bath

Do: Run water down drains at least once per month to help avoid foul odors.

Don’t: Let spare bathroom sinks or bath / showers stand unused for long periods of time.
